Free CD/DVD/BlueRay Recovery
Free software that recovers files from disks that are scratched or just give errors when reading data. The program basically scans the disc and tries to recover every readable piece of a file and then put them together. The more pieces it can recover the better chance it has of a successful copy.
The best option is to use a disc recovery application on a computer that has the same file system as the original one on the damaged disc (for example, an ISO CD or UDF DVD). This will ensure that the recovered files will be usable by your operating system.
If you want to avoid using applications, you can try some DIY methods of repairing scratches on optical media. For instance, you can soften perpendicular scratches by exposing the disc to an incandescent 60W lightbulb. Another option is to fill in the scratches with a wax-based product such as lip balm or shoe polish. Finally, you can cover holes that have perforated the data layer by covering them with a dark pen and tape.
Alternatively, you can use one of the freeware disc repair and recovery programs available on this page. However, we recommend that you always backup your discs before attempting any repairs. You can clone the fixed optical disc to an ISO file and archive it on your hard disk. Alternatively, you can mount the disc image with macOS and read its contents as virtual disks.
